2 Broke Girls Is the Female Entrepreneur Energy I Need
Rewatching the show as a freelance writer made me appreciate it more.
I know I know, we’re all over the #GirlBoss vibes. I’ll admit I was never a big fan of that movement to begin with, and I don’t need Sophia Amoruso and Rachel Hollis in my life — or my timeline.
But I just rewatched all six seasons of 2 Broke Girls (it’s too hot to get out of the house in Buenos Aires right now and we’re deep in our third Covid wave, okay?) and it was a delight. Especially after becoming a freelance writer at the start of 2020 and seeing what it’s like to struggle to make money.
I think there’s a lot of good about this show and its view of women starting a business.
If you don’t know what the show is about, it’s a sitcom created by Whitney Cummings and Michael Patrick King. The show centers Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs), an heiress and socialite turned broke and disgraced after her father’s Ponzi scheme has come to light, and Max Black (Kat Dennings), a broke waiter who makes sarcastic comments about the hipsters taking over her neighborhood.
