Last week, I made some incredible progress on my professional journey as a freelance writer. I wrote a story and got it featured on one of Medium’s publications, GEN.

I am PUMPED about this. It’s major.

I don’t really submit to publications. I’ve only been asked to join one, and a couple of others have offered to include my stories when they’ve already been published. And I think they do really work, even the smaller publications. I’m just really insecure, and I automatically exclude myself from submitting drafts. That, of course, has some impact on my stats, but I prefer limiting the amount of anxiety I let writing give me.

Being featured is not something I would ever have even dreamed of, so of course I clicked on the acceptance link at the speed of light.

Now, being published and getting views is fantastic, but it’s also scary. People will like you, but they will also hate you. The comments on that story…
