For the last couple of days, I’ve been seeing some comments on social media about Swedes being incredibly racist people.

I think it all started with this tweet thread by an Asian American woman living in Stockholm.

She details the harassment and abuse she’s tolerated since she moved to Sweden, including threats from random passersby and full-on harassment by two men at a train station.

On top, her attempts at reporting the harassment have gone nowhere, at the same time as the new right-wing government is promoting more policing to increase “security”.

Swedes, of course, didn’t exactly love being called racist. Some even tried turning Kat Zhou, the original poster, into a Chinese spy.

Yeah. Way to prove you’re not racist.

So, is Sweden really that racist? Yes, of course it is.
