As a Finn living in Argentina, I think it’s the opposite of Europeans being prudish. Argentinian young people traditionally had to go to telos, as they’re called, because they couldn’t have sex in their parents’ houses. Nowadays things are changing, and telos are in trouble. Many of them have closed in recent years, even before the pandemic. In Finland, we had our boyfriends sleeping at home.

There’s another core demographic still keeping the telos alive: cheaters. And also, married couples who want to get away from their kids for a while. I think they’re fun, and not all are seedy, although some are pretty disgusting. The more you pay, the better.
