I Can’t Get Off Twitter, And It’s a Bigger Problem Than You Think

I have 130 followers, but the world is much larger.

I’ve seen many an analyst this week recommend people get out of Twitter before it ends up being an even bigger cesspool of humanity than it has been so far.

I think they’re right. Elon Musk, the new owner, seems dead set on driving his investment to the ground.

Trolls and fanatics have taken advantage of the changes at the top, and hate tweets have already multiplied. It might just turn into 4chan or 8chan, which quickly drives out all the companies investing in ads on the platform.

Plus, Musk seems to have completely misunderstood what free speech is by saying he’ll start charging 20 bucks a month for the blue checkmark of verified users.

Hollywood actors have been loudly quitting the platform in protest, not wanting to contribute. Author Stephen King, an active Twitter user, said he’ll leave as soon as the platform begins charging for verification.

Elon then offered him a cheaper option, maybe just $8 per month? Because it’s clearly money Stephen King is lacking.

The most successful horror writer in the world, ever.
