I’m a Winner, Baby

I just won a Vocal Media challenge, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.

Holy s**t.

It happened. It really happened.

I won first place in a Vocal Media writing challenge.

And it couldn’t be more life-changing at this very moment.

I Needed Cash, Okay?

I live in a country with 50% inflation, which means I need money. A normal person’s salary just doesn’t cut it here.

Six years ago when I was hired, I had a good job. These days life is impossible for anyone who isn’t super privileged. The only person I know who doesn’t have a problem making ends meet is someone who makes twice as much money as I do and doesn’t pay rent. It’s just how runaway inflation works.

I needed to make some more money, preferably in dollars or euros that don’t lose their value at the same rate as the Argentine peso does.

But when I added freelance writing for money to my daily schedule, I took a low-paying job. I didn’t have experience writing online, so I needed to start building from the ground up. And because I’ve worked mostly as a ghostwriter, writing in Spanish, I have nothing to show for it.
