It’s a Birthday Miracle!
Thank the universe Medium and all of you for a most amazing week. A special thanks to my messy brain.
It’s my birthday today, April 30th, my favorite day of the year. It’s also the eve of the holiday we Finns call Vappu, Labor Day for Europeans and many other parts of the world.
Finns are the ones who do it best, though. We get really drunk and put on dorky white hats or sometimes get dressed like it’s Halloween. We hang balloons everywhere and go out to enjoy the spring.
Which, sometimes, involves pretending it’s spring in the middle of a snowstorm, but you know… Finnish spring.
In Argentina, Vappu is very underwhelming. It’s fall on this side of the equator, and it’s always cold and a little depressing.
But back to my most fabulous birthday week.
The week started kind of… meh. I went to work on Monday after a great weekend with friends, doing standup and writing. After work, a quick workout and straight to an improv class.
When I was headed home from class after 10 pm, my bus had a minor accident with another vehicle. Not a crash, barely a scrape. But it added another half an hour to an already long day, and I was tired and hangry.
