Just Write What You Want

If you suffer from imposter syndrome, trying to find your niche can make the job harder.

I’ve read a lot of writing advice over the years, especially when I first tried writing on Medium for the first time a couple of years ago. One of the most common is the importance of finding your niche.

Many writers treat their blogging as if it’s just marketing a product. They pick a niche, the more specific the better, and stick to it. This helps them connect with their readers and ensure them they’ll offer them value in every post.

Picking your niche should be easy. Just choose something you love and that you’re good at, and write about that.

But when I tried this strategy, it made me a little sad, and a lot overwhelmed. I like a lot of things.

I’m a Finnish writer and a bookworm who lives in Argentina and loves learning new languages. I studied and worked in politics and I’m currently studying history.

I’m also a passionate vegan and a fitness enthusiast. I’m single and boy crazy, and I like joking about my Tinder experiences. A lot. I also love a good feminist rant every now and then.
