Medium Has Paid My Rent This Month
I love you guys, seriously.
Another quick story today because I’ve been feeling lousy with a cold for the past several days and haven’t had the possibility to work as much as usual.
I’m on Medium since 2019, but I haven’t been actively writing here until September 2021. I’d just write one story, make anything from a couple of cents to a couple of bucks, and abandon the project.
It was both because I was too dominated by fear of failure, and because I really needed to make money, quickly. Long story short, I was overworked and underpaid for all of 2020 and half of 2021, until a couple of weeks with Covid left me unable to work for a couple of months.
Then, I decided I couldn’t go back to writing poorly paid Amazon affiliate content for others about things I didn’t care about. It was time to try Medium again, but with serious effort.
My strategy has been to publish as much as possible to get rid of my self-doubt, not pick a niche or force myself to do anything, and just enjoy. And it’s worked!
I’ve had some major wins this time around, like winning a Vocal challenge in January and finding some amazing regular readers and commenters. I reached the $100 club here on Medium after a couple of months, and felt amazing.
