I wish I had something hopeful to say.

But the main feeling I came out with from Tuesday was anger. Anger at the mostly white men and women who are so afraid of a Black woman being the President that they voted a serial rapist to power.

They hate women so much they’re willing to give the job to the absolute worst man in the world over a highly qualified woman.

White people, including more than 50% of white women, hate women of color so much they’d rather give up their rights to bodily autonomy than see a Black woman become president of the United States.

They hate Black women more than they like democracy.

And still, I find myself having to explain the gravity of the situation to men who don’t believe things are bad.

Yesterday, I had an unfortunate encounter with a man while picking up a salad at my favorite neighborhood vegan spot.

He claimed things were really “not that bad” and that the tide was going to turn again. He then proceeded to completely deny all the evidence I provided him.

Of real-life violence, and the online misogyny that feeds it. From the Elon Musks and Joe Rogans of the world to the common incels and men’s…
