One Thing I Learned From Fitness That Transformed My Learning
Tracking progress is a useful motivator, but it also tells you where you’re not paying attention.
I’ve been lifting weights for several years now, and it’s been an on/off relationship. At first, I didn’t really know what to do at the gym. Other times, I’ve found it hard to be motivated. Because of my stubborn nature and problems letting people tell me what to do, I’m not the kind of person to follow a program or a trainer.
About four years ago, I discovered something incredibly efficient that’s made my training much more efficient: a simple tracking app. It doesn’t count calories, give me training programs or different workouts every day. It’s just a log where I insert my exercises, reps and weights.
Yet somehow, this little app has made my training much more efficient. And what made a real difference was when I realized it can also help my progress in other areas of learning.
Whatever you’re focused on, paying attention to where you are and where you’ve come from can have a major impact. But why is tracking progress so important, and how can you implement it in and out of the gym?
