Sadly, that is part true. American voters don't care much about Latin America, unless it's about stopping migration.
However, the region has historically been important for the US (the Monroe Doctrine and the Cold War are just a couple of examples) and threats to democracy here still have a poltical impact the US. Crises in South or Central America also drive immigration, which has been majorly weaponized by the GOP., so I think it's an important issue to take into account!
