The interesting thing about the Happiness Report is that it actually uses the variables I mentioned (GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption) to predict and explain results, but the actual results are based on individuals’ own assessments. That, I think, makes this study more solid than others, but still not unproblematic.
