The Argentinian Reactions to the Queen’s Death Were Wild
Living in a country with a serious grudge with the UK is different.
So, this week represented one of the more interesting parts about living in a country that has a different position in world politics than the one I was born in. It’s that whenever something major happens, you see reactions from two sides.
Finland is located in the geographic. periphery of Europe and often barely relevant in the continent’s cultural history. But we’re still relatively close to the UK. London is a common location for a weekend escape for Finns, and UK politics remains important even after Brexit.

We don’t necessarily love the royal family, but there’s a certain feeling of stability and tradition that the Queen represented.
Argentina, though, is a little different. Not legally a part of the British colonial legacy, but a victim nonetheless of the Empire’s policies.
