The Fascist International Is Getting Stronger

And Lula isn’t going to help stop it.

So, Lula da Silva barely won the Brazilian presidential election yesterday, with a narrow margin. Lebolsss than two percent. That’s what a polarized society looks like.

Incumbent, racist right-wing lunatic Jair Bolsonaro didn’t address the public after his loss, and reportedly locked himself in the presidential palace.

We’ll see if he chooses to use the full Trump playbook and denies the election altogether. He might even try to stay in the Palácio do Planalto, but he probably won’t be successful.

A lot of US progressives, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have celebrated the win.

I’m just not sure there’s enough to be happy about, if you look at Lula’s win through a wider lens.

The Amazon Is Happy, I Guess…

The most important winner in the election is biodiversity and the indigenous populations in the Amazon.

This was one of the more high-stakes elections in the world in several years, and the results may have a real impact on the protection of the Amazon. Deforestation has clearly surged during Bolsonaro’s time in office, and bringing an end to it should be everyone’s number one priority.
