It’s always the woman who wears the scarlet letter.

A couple of days ago, I wrote a story about my affair with a married man. I wasn’t really surprised about the story not picking up steam, although I did put a lot of work into it, and I thought it was pretty good. But I’ve noticed that most readers won’t dole out claps for a story centering “the other woman” in an affair, which is understandable.

A story about infidelity is immoral unless it’s from the desired perspective. This means the person who was cheated on, or sometimes the cheater, if they’re really, really sorry about what they did.

But I’m going to write about the same topic again..This time, it’s because of a love triangle that’s been all over the news here in Argentina for the past couple of days. And because I can’t help but see the misogyny in how stories about infidelity are treated.

A telenovela of three love triangles

Just as I was writing the story of my experience as the other woman, Argentinian media was focused on one story: a new love triangle between a model, an actress and a football(*) player.
