Okay, I’m just going to spoil this right away and not make you scroll all the way until the end, because I don’t believe in that kind of thing. The headline is already clickbaity enough.
Sanna Marin was seen in public wearing leggings. Light-colored leggings.
The Sexy Politician
You may have heard of Finland’s 36-year-old Prime Minister, Social Democrat Sanna Marin, a popular but scandalous leader.
She’s been in the news for numerous incredible situations, such as showing cleavage in an interview with a fashion magazine. She was wearing a blazer without a shirt. But not to work, of course. It was for a photo shoot with a fashion magazine.
People went nuts.
This is too sexy! We can’t have politicians in fashion magazines! How can anyone respect a woman with *gasp* skin?
As a response, women started a campaign on Instagram wearing “too sexy” blazers, but the message from the old guard — politicians and journalists — was clear: we can allow a young woman to lead, but only if she does her best not to look like a young woman.
Come on, people can’t be expected to speak to attractive women like they’re people!
How About the Corruption?
Another one of Marin’s scandals was related to corruption. You know, corruption on a Finnish scale.
Our prime minister had taken advantage of a ‘breakfast benefit’ for her family when staying in the official residence. Her staff had interpreted from the official guidelines that the PM and their family could order breakfast and other cold meals on the taxpayer’s dime. About 850 euros per month.
Marin has apologized and paid back for the meals, even though what she did was within the official guidelines and although this benefit was used by other Prime Ministers before her.
Personally, I’d much prefer presidents and prime ministers had all their meals…
