The Smartest Thing I Ever Did on Tinder

The conversation got heated in a good way, and it told me everything I needed to know about the guy.

I’ve had many Tinder dates over the years, some of them really good. I’ve also had probably hundreds of conversations on the app, but most of them didn’t lead to anything.

It just feels incredibly hard to keep up the interest in somebody long enough to meet them. I’ve talked to so many creeps I tend to shut it off and block a guy at the first sign of behavior I don’t like.

On my latest Tinder try, I almost did it again. But before I cancelled the match and my date with him, I decided to try something different.

Do I like him or not?

I hadn’t been dating in a while. A long while.

A couple of times I let myself be bullied into dating by people around me who just couldn’t bring themselves to understand why a thirty-something, moderately attractive woman would prefer to be alone rather than have sex with strangers.

But mostly, I’d been alone. Not lonely, alone. I was just feeling good healing myself from past relationships and focusing on building my life back, mentally and physically. And I didn't want to talk to creepy guys and fill up my phone…
