What Many People Don’t Get About Their Cars

I work on the other edge of the city of Buenos Aires from where I live. It’s about nine miles to work, but takes an hour and a half to get there on public transportation.

To make the ride a little shorter, I used to get a ride to work with a colleague a couple of times a week. But far from being a time-saving, calming experience, it was mostly terror.

You’re Not Spiderman

This guy is a codependent social media addict who couldn’t stop looking at his phone. And I don’t mean an urgent text here or there, or a phone call, which would also be dangerous. I don’t mean checking your social media in the lights.

No, I’m talking about scrolling through posts. Taking selfies and editing them, and sending them to his partner.

All while driving through city streets, where at any given moment a pedestrian, a cyclist, another car or a stray dog could show up unexpectedly.

“I’m a good driver,” he’d answer when I complained. “I have great peripheral vision.”
