Hollywood doesn’t bother to do basic research when it comes to Latin America or Europe. Red Notice is no exception.

The movie X-Men: First Class (2011) opens with a scene where Magneto goes to search for a nazi criminal in Argentina’s Villa Gesell.

Now, I have a bit of an issue with the “nazis in Argentina”-trope in general, because it’s so overused and completely dismisses everything that’s happened in this country in the past 70 years. But in this case, the most disturbing thing is the total lack of accuracy when showing the location. See, the Villa Gesell shown is a Patagonian village, set in the midst of the mountains.

The real Villa Gesell of Argentina is also a beautiful and calm small town, except for the summer when tourists arrive. Because the real Villa Gesell is a beach town.

At first, I was annoyed when I saw this. The mistake is so incredibly stupid, especially because it could have so easily been avoided. Seriously, just type it into Google and…
