Writer with Anxiety? You Need to Write Every Day
When you don’t, you start questioning yourself.
In the last couple of weeks, I haven’t been as active on Medium as I want to be.
There are many reasons for why I’m not writing, reading, commenting or responding as much as I had in the last three months of 2021. It’s in part because my friends are coming back to Buenos Aires from their summer vacations, including the guy I’m dating, and I’ve been out of the house a lot more.
Especially since it’s not 105 degrees Fahrenheit outside anymore.
It’s also because I got back to doing standup and writing fiction. I dusted off a plan for a book from 2019 that had some 14k words and a full outline written already, and I plan to get a first draft finished in the next couple of months. Writing and practicing jokes is a job, too, and as such, it takes time and focus.
Then again, I also used some of my time in December and early January on Vocal Media’s challenges. I was especially inspired to write some short fiction, which doesn't exactly do well on this platform.
But it turns out, it hasn’t really done well on Vocal, either, which means I’m now reconsidering that approach. Maybe I need a lot more practice. Or maybe I just need to stop wasting time on it and focus on…
