You Don’t Have to Be a Specialist to See Something Is Wrong

The culture war is a distraction.

I’m not an abuse victim. I have never been in a relationship with an abusive man or woman.

I’m not a transgender person. I try to educate myself as much as I can, but I don’t have enough knowledge about what being trans is like.

I have never had an abortion. I do not know what it’s like, and I probably will never have to know it. I’m 37 and, even though I’ve never wanted kids, if I happened to get pregnant right now I’d likely have the baby.

I’m not a person of color. I can only try to understand and respect the different experiences of life people of color have, and hope to be a good ally.

I don’t have these experiences in life, but I do have enough studies and work experience in politics and communication to see that there are certain groups of people who are currently under a serious and active attack. Women, the LGBTIQ+community, abuse survivors, people of color.

There Is No Cancel Culture

There is an ongoing “culture war” that uses things like Critical Race Theory, #MeToo and the Bible to leverage hatred and fear against these groups.
